I found this lovely silver mouse digging through a bin in a shop in southern Maine where I have, over time, turned up some amazing little treasures. It was quite tarnished, but I had a feeling about it, and it also felt vaguely familiar--and, bottom line, what an elegant little mouse, with a bit of a mid-century feeling about it. Anyway, a little research led me to discover an identical solid sterling silver mouse produced for Cartier by Old Newbury Crafters, a silversmith in Amesbury, MA (very nearby to me) that has been producing fine hand-forged silver flatware and the occasional object for 100 years. I am pretty much positive this is that, and one can see where the mark was on the underside, but it has been worn down, and the silver shows a little pitting, so I am selling at a bargain price, valued just for its charm! (Another example I found online appears to have sold for just shy of $400.)
2 3/16" l x 1 1/16" w. Photos, shot with 2x magnification, accurately show some small dark spots on the silver. Overall very lovely though, and really nice perched on the desk.
