SOLD Woman in Orange Skirt with Plants, Vintage Oil on Board by Charles Rabin

Regular price $195.00

Here's another that brings me pure joy (and which I''d be very glad to keep for myself)--to my eye really a perfect painting, and whoever put it in this antique frame knew just what they were doing; an unlikely choice but I think it both brings honors and brings out the painting perfectly. Signed Rabin at lower right, the painting is by Charles Rabin--not a lot out there about him, but from what I've learned he was a self-taught artist of Southern New Jersey and later Fogelsville, PA who began painting in the 1970s and worked right up until his death in the early 2010s. I believe this is a pretty early one, c. early 80s, with a terrific directness and confidence about it--and what a sense of color! It looks to me that our woman in magenta and orange is potting or tending to a plant, perhaps about to march up those steps and out the door with it. Though I suppose it's possible she's got a bucket of paint in hand, as its contents pretty closely match the green of the wall! Wonderful face, wonderful row of orange and brown and dark green pots lined up on white topped sideboard beyond her. This really jumps right off the wall and would hold its own with most anything; just terrific.

Oil on board, in excellent condition, as is the frame. Framed as found: 12 3/8" x 10 3/8". Painting: 8" x 6 1/4". Signed at lower right.
