Use Care, Each Stair, Charming (and Useful!) c. 1920s-40s Painted Metal Sign

A handy reminder to us all, delivered in the best black lettering against creamy white ground, and in the form of a rhyme to boot! And since finding this, the phrase has stayed in my mind like a mantra, mentally guiding me up and down some precarious stairways! Somehow this feels to me like it once lived in a library, but I don't know for sure; found in Maine, c. 1920-40s I believe.

8 3/4" x 4 1/8". Metal (steel I believe) sign with holes at top corners for hanging. With magnification, one can see graphite outlines around the letters in a few spots, so I do believe hand-painted. Scattered surface scratches as evident.
