It really did take me a mirror to decipher the backwards writing on this old wooden t-square, which I believe reads: "This is a true saying and worthy of all men." I believe this phrase refers to the pastoral epithets in the New Testament, which include "This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief." I am not entirely certain its meaning on this t-square, though perhaps it acknowledges the sinfulness of E. Strickland who put this to use, drawing who knows what?! A curious thing, and also a lovely one, with quite a history on it and many good years of use in it yet.
17" l x 8" w x 1/4" thick and in very good, almost antique condition, very nicely aged.
