Liberty for Everyone! Scarce c. 1920s-30 Liberty Magazine Seller's/Advertising Bag

Regular price $70.00

Launched in 1924, Liberty was an American weekly general-interest magazine, originally priced at 5 cents and subtitled, "A Weekly for Everybody,"  both as advertised on this original magazine seller's bag.  Featuring contributions from some of the biggest politicians, celebrities, authors, and artists of the 20th century, it's circulation ranked close to that of The Saturday Evening Post.  This bag dates to the early years, 1920s/early 30s, with the logo printed in red and black on both sides, and strap long enough to be worn across the body, hanging at the hip. I of course love it for its resonance regardless of historic association: Liberty for all.

16 3/4" x 14", 14" drop on strap. Clearly used, with general wear and some scattered stains, a bit more on one side than the other and I think all to the good. Sturdy and sound, cotton, with interior seams up one side and along the bottom and hemmed top edges.
