Just an (almost) empty one, but which I thought would make a perfect pencil box, and you know I love all things early kindergarten--and early Milton Bradley, too. This box once held Froebel's "Gift 2", which consisted of geometric blocks--cube, cylinder and sphere-that suspended by string from a wooden armature. The top bar of that armature, from which they would hang, remains in this box, and the vertical struts of that armature would have fit into the holes of the two pieces that are built into the side of the box, pictured. This is an early one, c. 1890s or so, I believe.
