This is an early one, c. 1820s, and an example of a child's mug that would specifically have been made to be given as a reward of merit of sorts, very much akin to a paper reward of merit (but even better!) I of course love it as a specific object, too--the smudges and imperfections to the transfer seeming right for affirming improvement (but not to say exceptional achievement) at school! And one small rim chip as evident, that also seems perhaps original to it--glazed just like the rest of the mug. Plus that best blue. There is a hard-trying someone among us who really deserves this now and should be reward with it!
2 7/8" d x 2 5/8" t; 3 3/4" across at handle. Flaws native to the transfer and one rim chip I think likely also original to it as described and documented. Bright white, clean interior, all the better in hand.
