From the Pat Hatch Doll Collection, Charmer of a c. 1900 Black Stockingette Doll with Big Smile

Regular price $140.00

This came from the phenomenal doll collection of Pat Hatch, of Harvard, MA, recently auctioned by John McInnis of Amesbury, which I totally slept on, but happily some dolls purchased are beginning to show up--and this one feels as if made to be with me at least for a bit. Late 19th c/1900 or so, tightly stuffed with raw cotton, knit cotton stockinette, with this simply but I think really wonderfully embroidered smiling face. A few holes here and there, including a small one just to the side of the mouth, which I think makes it all the more empathetic. One could easily run a few stitches along the spots on the sides of the legs where the seams have opened a bit, but  it is pretty stable as is, and very sweet.

14 3/4" t x approx 5" w at shoulders. Tightly stuffed; body is firm. A few holes as evident.
