Quite a patina on this very old one. I love the gestural shape of the flat blade, with notch that maybe identifies it as a paring knife (?), but of course it's especially about the carved boot of a handle for me, much much handled and blackened from use (and maybe it got a bit too close to the fire once or twice, too.) Seems maybe earlier than later 19th c. American to me, including based on the shape of that boot, though I am no knife expert, and will stand up on its own on a flat surface.
6 3/8" l x 1 3/4" w at boot. Much used and aged condition as evident, which I think makes it all the more beautiful and special feeling. with some roughness/splitting to the surface of the wood on one side, as detailed. Will stand on its own, blade end up, on a flat surface
