Such a sweet one, kin to those Victorian velvet folk art butterfly shaped pin keeps (and pen wipes) I come across now and then--I don't recall seeing an owl before, though! Late 19th/very early 20th century I believe, all hand-sewn, velvet with silk fabric trim, and two more layers of tail feathers that lift to hold more pins and needles. With a small American flag patterned cloth bow pinned to the top, hanger stitched to the top of the back (a somewhat later addition), and an embroidered name tag with the name of its maker: A Campbell.
11 1/2" t x 3 1/8" w x 1 3/8" d. Good antique condition, with general light wear and a few pinholes in the belly, concealed if one pins the name tag there (I've shown it pinned, alternately, to the front and back.)
