A 19th-century French "cul noir" (spatterware-style) faience plate, specifically from Normandy, I believe, though that painted yellow tulip feels awfully Dutch in spirit (and the seller of this plate had indeed mis-attributed it as Pennsylvania spatterware.) I find it a very lovely thing, all the better for showing its age, and it does make me think of PA Dutch painted boxes and the like, too.
8 3/8" diameter. Good condition, no chips or cracks, just some general light all over surface scratching from use, and a couple of areas of white showing gray along the interior of the spatter painted rim.
