Out harvesting waterlilies, or a memorial on the lake? I might guess the former, and assume the person taking the picture was standing on shore, but there is a certain feeling of gravitas to the photo that makes it feel as if a document of a consequential moment. Whatever the case, something quite beautiful about her standing and facing away, face shadowed by her hat, and one of the children's too. And how lovely, and also fairly rare to see, those big bouquets of two different types of waterlilies, certainly just pulled up, in one hand a bunch with the long thin stems hanging, in the other a cascade, one bloom after another.
4 1/2" x 2 1/2". Good condition, some toning, with some streaking most visible in sky and water to right side, original to the print I believe and which to my eye makes it feel all the more atmospheric.
