So fun finding this and a second fan drawing of Paul McCartney, c. 1970s I believe, together at an antiques show in NH this week. A note and address jotted on the back of this one makes me think they were submitted in response to a contest run by WBY radio station in Boston--and looks maybe as if it was a fundraiser for the March of Dimes, too. (I might guess this and the other were winners or at least runners up! ) Here a very very pretty (look at those perfectly arched eyebrows!) picture of a pensive Paul, hands clasped and fingers threaded just below that perfect cupid's mouth, with a pair of microphones poised in anticipation of every utterance. And with what I take for a faux-autograph at lower left, leading one to imagine that the maker of this drawing was holding an autographed fan photo in her (surely her!) hands as she did.
11 7/8" x 9", charcoal on paper, with some creasing along the bottom edge.
