There is some red wax that at some point dripped down the side of the third donkey on this vintage Mexican folk art pottery candleholder--which I haven't touched as it rather adds to festiveness (and I didn't want to risk messing up the paint.) It took me a while to notice it though amid everything else going on! This one was made to hold three full sized candles, which just miss the tails of the birds when placed. Hand built, dipped in white slip and then hand-painted, with super bright color and pattern everywhere.
10" long x 6 1/8" tall x 2 3/8" deep. Mexico stamped on the underside. Overall very good used vintage ondition. The second donkey has a small chip to one ear, and the third one some red wax down one side as noted.
