I can't look at this little Minnie Mouse without thinking of the work of the late, great artist Joyce Pensato, or of the ceramic sculptures of Magdalena Suarez Frimkess--both of which enhance my love for her greatly! This hand-painted porcelain bisque Minnie dates to the 1930s, I believe, and is stamped "Japan" and "Disney" on the back. There is a fair amount of wear to the paint, which I think only makes her better, but no chips or cracks that I can see. A great little icon of a pre-plastic era!
