I usually pass on late Victorian scrapbook albums filled with trade cards, but I opened this one, offered by a dealer couple in my neck of the woods who always have great things, to find a charming series of collaged room settings, which to me wonderfully give life to the imagination of a young person, a young girl I would bet, envisioning the arrangement of her future home (or the home for her favorite doll! With each room named just below the collage--down to "back parlor," a couple of different chambers, and "nursery." With artfully cut bits of wall paper defining each room, furniture and fixtures carefully cut from catalogs or advertisements and pasted in, and in my favorite a paper doll-esque little girl in blue and green standing in the middle of it. Uncommon, informative, and very charming! Plus more than a dozen pages filled front and back with period trade cards, some good ones among them.
10" x 8" x 1 3/8". 12 pages of room settings, one side of page only (blanks reverse) + 14 pages pf trade cards, mostly filled front and back. The majority of pages documented. Good condition, with one loose page as documented.
