I grabbed these for the beautifully papered box, which dates to the 1880s or 90s and is in excellent shape. And, of course, as a lover of old penmanship I like the idea of having Spencerian pen nibs art one’s disposal—and this box is full not just of Ivison & Phinney nibs, but with a whole variety of others, too. Apparently the box plus nibs is a pretty rare and precious thing; the only other I could find online, with just five tips inside, is listed at $175. Included here by my count are 9 Ivison Phinney, plus 15 Easterbrook 788 oval points, 7 marked Boston School Committee, 1 Easterbrook Easy Writer, and 1 marked Commonwealth of Mass, and I may be missing a few. Just a couple show a little rust, but all the rest are in pristine, unused condition, rust ready to be put to use.
Box: 2 3/8” l x 1 7/16”w x 7/8” t. All nibs included. Box in excellent condition with only light wear and minor loss to the paper.
