I love objects bearing words or phrases with the potential to resonate in all sorts of contexts, and also just love good words. (I had a great friend in college who chose her brand of cigarettes by the strength and potential connotations of their names, favoring Trues, Merits, Mores, and Parliaments in alternation.) Price feels the same: so many places to put it and point it toward, and so many ways to then read it. And this cast iron PRICE is quite an object in itself, weighing in at about 6 pounds, mid 19th century or so I believe, and with all of those years evident across its surface. I do wonder, with just one hole in at at the arrow end, whether it was originally made to, quite aptly, point up!
17 7/8" x 3 7/8" x 1/2. The surface shows its age, all to the good I think; overall good condition and just great. Details make surface look somewhat lighter than it is; from a distance it reads boldly dark and clear.
