Very Intricately Woven (and Very Wearable) Victorian Hair Cuff

Regular price $150.00

One sees Victorian hair bracelets around these parts, which I find quite wonderful, but it takes an unusual one from me to feel compelled to bring it home--this one sold me in one second flat. I am not an expert, but I believe style of knotting and weaving here is  Scandanavian in origin. And that's what I find amazing here--that wide, net-like matrix of interlaced tiny braids, and then strip down the center like a chain formed of many overlapping loops, each wrapped in more hair. Not a bit of hardware here, but it is a very wearable piece (it fits my wrist perfectly and secures soundly and snugly), with hair wrapped buttons of sorts at either end and a braided hair chain with two tassels that closes over the opposite end to clasp it and hold it tight.

6 1/2" long and in very good antique condition. A few stray strands springing from the tassels but stable and sound. There is a bit of a kink/bend to the cuff near the middle such that it lies not 100% flat, though is not evident when worn and I imagine would press out with some weight on it.
