Unusual and Wonderful 19th Century Set of Miniature Geometric Solids in 19th Century Signed Dovetailed Box

Regular price $265.00

My heart skipped a beat when my eyes landed on these, the likes of which I've never seen--and what could make me happier than geometric solids in miniature form?! And in a lovely 19th century slide lid box with fat dovetailed joints to boot? Plus provenance: a slip enclosed indicating they came from the estate of Doctor of Philosophy Kurt Bonstedt, a consultant in technical chemistry, with two addresses listed for him in Germany.

I have not counted all of the sides on all of the forms, but there are a range of many very many faceted ones! Twenty one forms in total, each with a number printed on it--which indicate they are what was once part of larger set of at least 32.

Box measures 5 3/4" by 3 1/8" by 2 1/8" t. Solids include the following numbers: 4 through 9; 12 through 23; 30 through 32. All in good antique condition. There is a signature on the underside of the box, but it is difficult to read. I've done some searching but can find no other example of a similar set out there anywhere.
