Unusual, Painterly c. 1870s Sixth Plate Tintype of Boy in Chair in Profile

Regular price $35.00

I'm always drawn to painterly sort of photographs--ones that feel all about tone and composition and atmosphere, and this is very much one of those, so moody-dreamy. And an unusual one, with this young man seated facing sideways in his chair, rumpled drop cloth underneath--feels as if capturing an in-between moment, waiting and thinking, before an actual frontal portrait were to be taken. Lovely and poetic.

4 1/4" x 2 5/8". Light surface scratching as documented, erosion along left side and top right corner, a few little bends but lies flat.
