This is one of three old carved wooden whimsies I purchased together from a dealer in New Hampshire, all listed today, and I think quite likely all done by the same person. This is the most striking and unusual of the three; I've never seen another quite like it, with crosses carved out on all four sides around the bottom end (creating four tiny corner shelves of sorts) and then this excellent, very sharply pointed pyramid just above, which makes those crosses seem as if the handle of a dagger! Two large balls in stacked cages above, and a loop should one wish to hang it, though it will stand on its its own on a flat surface (maybe with a little museum wax underneath to secure it in place. Really a nice one, with an very nice dry wood patina, carved from one piece of wood.
10 3/16" t x 1 1/4" x 1 1/4" and excellent condition, with nice age to it for sure.
