The Champion, Boy in Back Yard with Raised Fists and Protruding Ribs, c. 1940s Snapshot

Regular price $28.00

Lots rolled up in this one for me, from the freedom of backyard play to aspirations toward masculine ideals to the simultaneous joy, assertiveness, and vulnerability embedded in his raised-arms gesture and the exposure of chest and jutting rib cage.  And the setting/composition, fluttery leaves behind him and spiky ones running in a diagonal to frame his leg, is just right.

4 3/8" x 2 13/16". Very good condition.
