I was sold on these blocks before I even opened the box: first for the great lithographed graphics on the lid, and plaid paper around the sides, and then I noticed the tenderly hand-stitched repairs at each of the corners, holding the bottom box together and telling me someone once really cared a lot about these!
They took great care of them too; they're in pretty immaculate shape, and just lovely. Each block features two sides with different animals, and then different styles of letters and numbers on the other sides, some embossed, which--appropriately--the US Embossing Co (who would go on to produce color cubes) was known for. Altogether a super set, and I've not found another complete set like this in the original box. First decade of the 20th century or so I believe.
Box measures 5 3/4" x 5 3/4" x 1 1/2". Blocks measure 1 5/16" cubed.
