Sweet Old Crate Wood Dancing Doll with Feminine Graphite Drawn Face, Early 20th c.

Regular price $85.00

A very sweet one, which the graphite drawn face makes me think of as a "her", who was made of Diamond Match crate wood (which dates it to early 20th c.) and appears never to have arms. Her jointed hips and legs make her a dancer, but there's no hole in her back for a dowel; there is some wear around her waist so I think likely there was once a wire there to hold her up by. There is some graphite writing one her chest which probably tells a bit of her history, but is impossible to read now. I especially like the print on the crate wood that shows on one side of her legs and what looks like a first stab at an outline for her legs (pointing in the opposite direction) on the other.

11 3/4 t. X 2 1/4 w x 3/4 d and in very good, very sturdy condition with a great dry wood patina.
