Super Sweet, Well Worn Antique Wool-Penny-Rug-Covered Hexagonal Stool

Regular price $140.00

This sweet old stool was my sole find on a recent antiques show outing to Boxborough, MA, but finding it made the drive feel worth it; I love it so much. I'm endlessly eying antique wool penny rugs, but haven't quite landed on one--but then a stool and penny rug combination, of course! It has lived a life for sure, with a handful of lost "pennies"--mostly just top layers of the stacks, though a couple fully gone--and a few mends too. Plenty of wear to the brown stain/paint on the hexagonal shaped stool as well (it looks almost slate blue in some photos but is brown), but it feels all of a piece, and it looks to me like there are six different names written on the panels of the stool on the interior--as if one side representing each of six children, though I don't know for sure! To my eye exactly the right palette--not too bright, but enough to feel cheerful as well as cozy--like winter woolens.

12 1/2" across corner to corner; 11 1/2" across side to side. 11 1/4" tall. Plenty worn as thoroughly documented, but stable and sound and the stool itself quite sturdy.
