I found this one at Brimfield this summer and just couldn't walk away from it--something about the face on that darker blue form that feels highly empathetic (and also maybe like a nod to Miro or maybe Calder and also feels vaguely Swedish!), as if fighting to emerge as a being as opposed to being swallowed into abstraction! I've also just got a weakness for art school formal studies, which I think this is, exploring the intersections among shapes and colors. With a few pencil notes.regarding colors visible through the watercolor.
Paper 18" x 12". Image area 12" x 9 1/4", watercolor and black maker on paper. Mid century, and in good condition, with a very light old center crease (lies flat now), small loss to upper right corner, and a few minor stains on the margins.
