This one I purchased from a lovely young dealer, who is always kind to point out to me things she thinks I'll appreciate, and invariably she is right. It is the interior of this small coin bank that makes it special, between that beautiful blue papered top with scattered jottings on it (maybe the year 1919?) and, especially, the carefully lettered and pasted in naming of what contents it was designated to hold: "Special & Extra Money" on one side, and "Self" on the other. A prized box indeed, all one's own, and I can imagine there was significant care and deliberation taken to determine just how each penny of this special and extra money would be spent. And pressed into the bottom of the box is a piece of paper which appears to read "What we had on harvest day" along with what appear a few names written at upper right.
4 3/8" x 2 7/8" x 2 1/4" t closed. General wear as shown, with the bottom of the box showing a few cracks and small losses. Lid closes flush and square, hinges in fine shape. A special feeling thing.
