Forever on the hunt from beautiful and interesting old wooden blocks, I was excited to find these, a complete set of British "Teachem Toys Rattle Bricks" manufactured by Lines Bros Ltd, operating under the Tri-ang Toys brand name, established just after WWI. I can find no other set or even documentation of these out there, though I did turn up a couple other examples of blocks produced by Tri-ang under the "Teachem Toys" name. Quite beautifully made, and quite satisfying as objects, which are a treat to play around with. Each with what I imagine are some small wooden balls inside, making for nice rattles--and seems to me there may be subtle differences from one rattle to the next. In the best baby blue painted crate, which makes a perfect frame for them.
Crate, original to them, measures 9 1/4" x 7 1/4" x 3". Square blocks approx 1 7/8" x 1 7/8" x 2". General wear and age as one would expect.
