It made me so happy to find this--a complete, almost entirely untouched Froebel kindergarten paper plaiting (weaving) kit in original box, made in Germany, late 19th century or so. You may know that I am obsessed with Friedrich Froebel's invention of kindergarten, and the rigorous, creative, expansive philosophy of learning informing it, and paper plaiting is my favorite kindergarten "Gift" of all. Here, should one wish to put it to use, is everything one would need to create one's own portfolio of paper weavings, including the original paper weaving needle. Included are warp and weft papers, each in a rainbow array of colors, and each type cut to two degrees of fineness, the more finely cut allowing for more complex and intricate weavings. One simple example inside done by a previous owner, but otherwise pretty much untouched.
Box 8 5/8" 5 7/8" x 1/2". All shown included, including weaving needle and black and blue printed design samples insert. All content in excellent condition, with general wear to the box. A rarity.
