This is a lovely footed stoneware bowl by Wisconsin potter Rick Hintz of Johnson Creek Clay Studio, Johnson Creek, WI. A great everyday smallish serving bowl, it exemplifies Hintz's interests in irregularities of texture, depth, and color, and especially in how glazes obscure or reveal the clay underneath.
Hintz received his B.A. in Art from Knox College, Galesburg, Illinois, an M.A. in Art History from the University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa, and an M.F.A. in Ceramics from the University of Notre Dame, South Bend, Indiana. After teaching ceramics and sculpture during the 1990's, he moved to Wisconsin to establish his studio in Johnson Creek and opened his gallery in the fall of 2002.
6 1/2" d x 3 1/4" tall. Very good condition, with a few small surface scratches on the interior, as pictured.
