There is not a whole lot out there about Renate Scheer Kalkofen (1935-2013) who created this stunner of a print in 1962, as well as several others I am listing from around the same time. I do know she was a graduate of Tufts University and spent much of her life in the nearby Boston suburb of Belmont, where there are records of her exhibiting from the 1960s and 70s all the way through 2011. And I know from the dealer I purchased the prints from that her house was loaded with great mid-century furniture and objects, amid which this print would certainly have felt at home, and hints of which show up in this abstracted "Still Life," with a table in the foreground topped with what appears to be flowers in a vase and a fish on a platter (?), among other things.
Paper size 23 1/2" x 19 1/4", trimmed a bit unevenly on the bottom. Image size 20" x 15 1/2". Very good condition. The colors in images are very close to accurate--really a gorgeous palette and sophisticated print. Shipped flat.
