Super rare to come across a set of these, so even though there are a handful of tiles missing, and loss/aging to the enameled paint on some, I snatched them up without a second thought. Four sheets of pattern solutions are still present, which are beautiful things in and of themself, and though they designs can’t quite be completed with the blocks at hand, one can come pretty close, and they are very handy as inspiration. Best I think is to take them out of the tray and build free form designs—which I could have spent many more hours doing! The colors and glossy enameled surfaces are gorgeous, and most of the wooden tiles are painted different colors on either side.
Tray (wood framed, painted white) measures 10 1/4” x 10 1/4”. There is a hard board top that fits over the tray that measures 10 13/16” square. Paint loss and missing pieces s evident. Early 20th c. I believe, made in German.
