Precarious Bridge, Stick in Hand, Poetic and Existential Feeling Velox Snapshot, Sardinia, 1928

Handwritten on the back of this snapshot is Sardinia, Apr. 8, (19)28. I love it for its capturing of this very vernacular solution to the problem of crossing from one side of the water to the other, and also for capturing the challenging of getting up onto that bridge in order to cross. With what almost looks like a bird resting on the shoulder of the crouched figure, though perhaps it is something attached to the top of their walking stick? Feels like a portrait of life's challenges in a perfectly distilled form.
