This pair I could not resist, which were most definitely meant to stay together, as the larger penguin is most definitely giving the side-eye to the shorter. Whether the latter is meant to be its partner or its child I am not sure, but certainly an apt expression either way, at least on occasion! It's a bit hard to convey scale through photos but these are quite substantial in volume and weight and especially presence--more full blown sculptures than figurines. Hand-sculpted of very dark and gritty clay with very painterly glazing on eyes, beaks and bellies, and with a lot of life in them. Signed (incised) KK on their undersides, which I have not been able to place.
Sold as a pair. Larger: 6 5/8" t x 5 1/6 w. Smaller: 5 3/4" t x 4 1/8" w. Both in very good condition, no chips, cracks or other issues.
