So many things I can't resist, antique notebooks with hand-marbled paper covers very much among them. I found these two separately, but they make a very pretty pair, so I'm listing them together. The larger one has beautiful alphabetic index tabs, as shown, and the writing in it appears earlyish 19th century--this would I believe have served as the index to other ledgers of accounts. The smaller ledger appears older than its contents, kept as a ledger for a fine shop, maybe an antiques shop?!--documenting the sale of glassware, silverware, sofa cushions, lamps, etc.--with the handwriting (and prices!) looking 20th century to me.
Larger 12 5/8" x 7 3/4". Smaller 10 7/8" x 8", 4 pages filled, 17 blank, with edges from a bunch of pages removed (as found) at the front of ledger, as shown.
