Old Turned Wooden Apple with Horse Roulette Spinner Inside

Regular price $45.00

I'll never get over my love for turned and painted wooden apple boxes like this one. These were made in Japan for the Western market, beginning in the late 19th c., and often housed miniature tea sets, or roulette style games--this one still holding the spinner and ball for a horse racing game. The exterior shows general wear and one small ding to the wood, but to my mind one should pluck every one of these one finds and build an orchard of a collection of them! This is an older one, c. 1920s or so I believe.

3 1/4" t x 3 1/4" d. One ding to the wood and light general wear to the paint, as documented. Roulette spinner spins perfectly inside.
