A bit of a challenging to photograph this one due to the shine on the brass, so forgive the crummy pictures . I am pretty certain this is a snuff box, definitely with a lot of years on it, and my guess--due especially to the tulips--is that it is Dutch. The relatively crude manner of the engraving, especially the zig zags around the edge and on the leaves of the tulips screams trench art to me, though I am not 100% sure. Of course I love it in the way that I love a naive drawing, feeling hopeful and sincere and hard-trying! Later 19th/early 20th c. would be my guess.
3 1/4" l x 1 3/4" x 1 5/8" t. A few spots to the brass here and there and a little irregularity of shape along the seam of the bottom. The hinge is in great shape, and the lid closes tight.
