Nod to an Amphora, Perfect Studio Pottery Bud Vase with Wings

Regular price $85.00

I spotted this lovely in a locked case, expecting its concealed price tag to proclaim its unattainability, but happily I was able to bring it home. To my eye really quite a perfect small vessel, transcending time and scale, too--feels one part ancient Roman (or Etruscan), one part Arts and Crafts, one part mid-century, etc. And I take those "wings" as a nod to the broken handles of ancient amphora--so rather post-modern, too.  With a certain elusiveness to the glaze/color--reads in most light like a flat blue-black body, but closer looking reveals a more variegated surface. Better than photos, really striking.

4 1/2" t x 4 1/2" at handles; 3 3/8" d. Excellent condition, not a flaw that I can see. Handthrown, stoneware, with applied "handles", signed (incised) on the underside but I can't quite read it.
