No Relief! (22) Old Cast Iron Found Object

I have no idea what this was once attached to; it doesn't seem deep enough to have been a handle or pull...perhaps it was a salesman sample of sort, number 22 of who knows how many? Whatever the case, it's a perfect found object to me, with the No (as in No. 22) next to the RELIEF reading as No Relief--which of course often seems to be the case these days on numerous sorts of levels! (At the same time one might read it Relief in its 22nd form, and as I think of 22 as a lucky number, perhaps relief is on the way!)

12" l x 1" t. Great I believe antique (late 19th c I would guess) condition, perhaps once painted white.
