I find these old lap desks such satisfying things, with compartments underneath the velvet covered writing slope in which one might keep writing paper as well as tuck a stack of correspondence received, and then a few pens under the lid with handle at one end--all ready to take anywhere. Makes me want to write old fashioned letters. Or maybe just to throw all of ones bills inside! This one no longer locks, so maybe best not to keep secret love letters in it, but otherwise is in very good shape with plenty of use in it yet.
11 1/2" x 8" x 3 7/8". There is a little scratching to the wood of the exterior, and a few stains to the velvet inside, but otherwise very clean and structurally very sound, with a brass latch that holds the top half of the writing surface closed; slide the latch to open the interior compartment.
