Vintage Naef Wooden Stacking Bocks - Set of Seventeen

Regular price $80.00

These were a happy find the other day at a favorite shop in New Hampshire--I've had a couple of rare sets of colored blocks of the same form designed by renowned Swiss carpenter and designer Kurt Naef (1926–2006) in 1954, but had never seen a set of unpainted wooden ones, though I have since learned that they were produced.  No box with these and they are unmarked, but it's quite clear that is what they are, and all signs point to this being a. mid-century set. They do show some spotting/staining here and there, as documented, but to me it just makes them feel all the more as if they spent the past 60 or 70 years in a glass walled modernist house!

Blocks measure 1 7/8" on each side. Overall good condition, with some darkening to the dry wood on a handful as documented. I believe this was once a set of 18; there are 17 here, and in some photos I've just included 16.
