I chased a bunch of mid-c Italian pottery online to find one ashtray featuring essentially the same pattern as the lid on this box, with that ashtray bearing its original sticker so I know this box was produced for Raymor but I am not sure who designed it. (The ashtray is selling on 1st Dibs for $1195.) It's a beauty for sure, with the box glazed in bright white and the flat lid in grays and yellow feeling very late 50s modernist abstraction. Elegant, eye catching, rare, useful for all sorts of things, and in near perfect condition.
8 5/8” x 4 1/4” x 1 7/8” t. Overall excellent condition. One or maybe two very minor glaze chips as documented, and perhaps a bit of chipping to one ledge on the underside of the lid, very minor. There are pads on the unglazed underside, which is marked Italy 439.
