This was the first thing that caught my eye as I walked into a show in Bath, Maine last weekend, and it has caught my eye a hundred times since! Mid-century I believe, gouache on what looks like watercolor paper, in a deep period frame, gold on the facing edge. Perhaps this was done in art class as a exercise in color and form, or perhaps the work of a well known practicing artist, maybe signed somewhere not visible. (I have not taken it out of the frame). A google lens search turns up a number of notable possibilities, but I'll just take it on its face and say its a great looking painting.
Framed:, under glass: 15 7/8 x 17. Painting: 9 7/8 x 11 1/2. One small area of white cloud with a few surface scuffs, as documented; overall great condition, super bright and crisp.
