Mid-Century Pastel Brazilian Landscape by Tatiana McKinney - 2 of 2

Regular price $185.00

This is one of a pair of large c. 1950s pastel drawings by Tatiana McKinney (1909-2008) I have in the shop--and they are both truly luminous. In a lush palette of soft greens, blues, grays and black, both render mountainous Brazilian landscapes in a manner that feels extremely confident and entirely resolved--these really have gravitas, and would command any space in which they are hung. Really, really nice.

McKinney grew up in Russia, where she studied art with Sergel Vinogradov in Riga, Latvia. She married U.S. State Department official Samuel McKinney and subsequently lived and worked all over the world, including teaching for 16 summers in Brazil and Greece. In 1963 she settled in Venice, Florida, where she was a founding member and longtime, highly influential teacher at the Venice Art Center.

This drawing measures 13" x 18" and is in very good condition.
