Hands down my favorite transfer image I've ever seen on a piece of Staffordshire, plate, cup or otherwise! That face! And those dolls and toy animals seated attentively for this school session, from the looks of the open book in our girl's hand being taught their A.B.C's. A stern school mistress she seems to be, too, with this whisk in hand to keep their attention. Just marvelous details all the way around, with excellent richness and sharpness to the transfer. Love love love.
6 3/4” diameter and in very good condition, no chips, cracks or repairs. Minor crazing. Image is extremely clear. Some darkening around the rim of the plate, which I have not touched. Earlyish 19th c. I am sure, though I can find no other example of this out there anywhere.
