Such a lovely, quiet, gentle painting, with this man in greens, the sheep (I believe) walking along with him (following his bucket I think!), and the landscape around them all feeling very much as one. With such a serene poise about him, I'd be inclined to follow him too! He, the sheep and the white sky behind are more thickly painted than the ground around them, where the canvas shows through in some areas, adding to the feeling of this as a romantic sort of vision.
15" x 11 1/4". Much better in person. Oil on canvas adhered to board and early 20th century I believe. Good antique condition, with some wear around the edges which I think just contribute to its considerable aura. Unsigned.
