Make Do: Ninth Plate Tintype Portrait of Striking Young Woman in Calico Dress with Tight and Tender Old String Wrap

I'm very tempted to keep this one for myself--because I really love the sense of presence and appearance of this woman (face to hair to collar to dress to belt), and also, especially, because I love the old string wrap holding the layers of mat and glass and photo together--having lost the foil wrap "preserver" that would once have done so, and the case it was surely once housed in too. The string repair is old, with corrosion  corresponding to its presence (and the back would tell us there was once one more wind around.)  I love mends as assertions of love and care,  and find the the aesthetic qualities and impact of this make do string wrap terrifically satisfying. (I'll call her Jeanne-Claude!)

2 1/2" x 2". Sound and stable.
