Beautiful Small Two Piece Carved Black Duck

This lovely old carved wooden duck is small - a bit shy of 5 inches long --but has quite a wonderful presence and sense of specialness about it, in significant part I think due to the head having been carved from a separate piece of wood than the body, which, together with the sensitive carving of the form, makes me think perhaps caved by a practiced decoy maker. Primitive, elegant, distinctive, and to my eye quite a perfect thing.

4 7/8” l x 2” t x 1 7/8” w and in very good condition, and I believe with quite a lot of years on it. Found in Adams County, Pennsylvania.
