This mid 19th c. watercolor of a green pigeon, or Treron (I believe this one a Treron Capellei, specifically, native to Southeast Asia) may be my favorite find of the week--just so lovely! Really hard to argue with a beautiful rendering of a beautiful bird, and the soft, graduated greens and yellows and pinks of this beauty on its branch make it hard to take one's eyes off it. That intense bright red eye lends the perfect punctuation and seems to follow one around the room! Wonderful.
12 3/8" x 8 3/4" framed. 10" x 6 3/8" sight. As found, in a nice period frame, with what appears to be the original glass. Watercolor on what looks to me like wove. Very good condition.
